Author: Jasmine's Beat® Adaptive Dance
Jasmine's Beat provides Adaptive Fusion Dance sessions provided by an experienced Recreational Therapist. Jasmine has proficiency in working with adults and children with various special needs in various settings, ranging from pediatric rehabilitation hospitals to community-based settings to nursing homes. Jasmine has her Bachelor of Science in Health Studies with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation and a minor in Psychology. She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist since 2001. She has learned Bharatnatyam, a classical Indian dance form, from M.G. Dance Institute in Philadelphia, PA, since age 6, and has since performed for various occasions, including Indian organizations in Philadelphia, the India Day Parade in PA, and bollywood dances for Indian Students Association at Temple University. She has worked for Arya Dance Academy in Nyack, NY as a dance instructor for children ages 4 to 18. She has also taught Adult Bollywood classes in Lynbrook, NY at Tropix Dance & Fitnezz Studio and Bollyfit classes at Oceanside Fitness. Jasmine also has an awesome husband and 3 wonderful kids, who have helped support her. Her most recent experience in TX was being trained and teaching introductory ballet and jazz to preschool children through Stretch-n-Grow. Adaptive Fusion dance classes use various dance forms to create choreography for contemporary music, that can be adapted for various physical and sensory needs. Jasmine's Beat ensures that a sensory sensitive class, and when possible, recital, can be included in neuro-typical settings. Currently, Jasmine's Beat provides classes at Next Step Dance (Frisco, TX) and North Texas Performing Arts Starcatchers program (Plano, TX). We are always looking for volunteers who have a passion for dance and/or working with persons with special needs! Do you know someone who may benefit from an adaptive dance session?
